What HR Strategies Can We Learn From Our Favorite Football Team/Club?Think of your favorite football player; Pelé, Beckenbauer, Messi, Cruyff, Maradona, Ronaldo, Rummenigge, Ronaldinho, Matthaus, Zidane, etc. All of them were recruited, trained, developed, compensated & had performance targets. Let’s talk about the ties between great football & great HR. Billions of Euros are spent on football clubs and on our national teams every year. Why is that? National pride, club pride, trophies, ego, & accomplishments – have you ever thought about why we spend so much money on the beautiful game?
I have & we want to be acknowledged as great at something. As a country, we want to be better than every country in the world. As a club, we want to be better than all the other clubs in our division. We want to be great AND known to the world as great. The best companies in the world also want to be great & like our teams/clubs, and they want everyone to know it.
The best teams/clubs in the world have mastered HR. Think about what we do & how teams/clubs do it. Sourcing = scouting. Hiring = negotiations with agents. Recognition = trophies, medals, and awards. Outplacement = the transfer window.
This session will be about football & what we (as HR & recruiting professionals) can learn from the beautiful game so we can create our own version of the beautiful game for the organizations we work with.
